The Cambridgeshire Apprenticeship Awards shine a light on the hard work and commitment that apprentices across the Cambridgeshire area put into their chosen fields. Apprentices from Marshall were nominated by their managers, mentors and learning facilitators based on their work ethic, personal achievements, and dedication to developing in their roles.
We are proud to announce that Four Marshall apprentices Alex Norton, Bradley Petitt, Joshua Mitchell and Morgan Reid have been shortlisted as finalists in various categories for the Cambridgeshire Apprentice Awards 2023. These nominations are not only a reflection on the effort and dedication that our apprentices put into their work but also testament to the quality of training and mentorship they receive from the team at Marshall.

Morgan is an Aircraft Fitter apprentice who has achieved high scores in his assessments, held himself in a professional manner and demonstrated excellent behavioural characteristics. As part of his rotations, Morgan was able to visit various departments to gain insight into the business operations; in all three of his rotations, he has received outstanding feedback in relation to behaviours as well as his adaptability and versatility with the hands-on aspects of each role. This has led to him being recommended for a position on the team working with our highest profile customer, which is a very rare occurrence for a young person so early in their career.
Josh joined Marshall Aerospace as an Aircraft Fitter apprentice in September 2021. Josh immediately stood out to the team for his tenacity and talent for problem solving. Josh was invited to be part of the continuous improvement team for all three of his departmental rotations due to his performance, complex problem-solving ability, proactive approach and desire to make positive changes to the way people work. He has received great constructive feedback from the team and has not been afraid to seek support where needed, which helped him develop a more comprehensive understanding his role and the impact that has on the wider business. Josh’s success has demonstrated what an apprentice with fresh ideas can contribute to the team and set the standard for the future.
Bradly is the ultimate case study in resilience as he has demonstrated his ability to rise above challenges when presented to him both personally and professionally. He has consistently met and often exceeded the expectations of his managers in the Avionics Team. Bradley represented Marshall the UK WorldSkills competition in 2022 and ultimately won the bronze medal placing him third in the Aircraft Maintenance category against all the competitors across the UK. Bradly is attentive and willing to apply any feedback he receives to consistently improve. His enquiring mind enables him to understand the technical requirements of his job and he can execute his tasks with precision.
Alex was nominated for the award by his managers and trainers due to his ability to overcome great personal challenges during his apprenticeship. Alex has come the furthest in terms of personal growth among his peers throughout his apprenticeship and has always welcomed feedback to adjust his approach to work. Consequently, he was trusted with more responsibility and is now working with minimal supervision on high-profile projects. He is supportive of his colleagues and is thriving in a team environment. Outside of work, Alex actively supports the Royal Airforce Air Cadets and was invited to represent the Virtual Red Arrows in the TechnoZone at RIAT (2022). His passion and commitment to inspiring the next generation to follow a career in STEM is highly commendable. Alex is a great example to others and proof that personal challenges can be overcome if you are motivated enough to achieve your goals.
